Bali Bird Park

Find yourself at the Bali Bird Park to witness the largest and finest collection of Indonesian birds in the world plus fantastic birds from Africa & South America. Encompassing two hectares of botanical landscape, the park provides sanctuary to almost 1000 birds of 250 different species.

Our innovative approach towards the display of rare and tropical birds has progressed from traditional exhibits to that of showcasing mixed species in their natural habitats & in large walk in Aviaries and free range throughout the park.

The park accommodates an amazing display of flora with more then 2000 tropical plants including 50 varieties of palms alone and attracting numerous butterflies.

Incorporating a breeding, research and veterinary facility within the complex, the park has a high success rate in the captive reproduction of exotic birds such as the Bird. of Paradise and Hornbill.

    The park and restaurant is open from 09.00 a.m until 17:30 p.m daily. Except on Balinese New Year ( Nyepi )
  • Dogs & Pet
    Dogs and other pets are prohibited from the park as they scare the birds.

    Refreshments are available in the Bali Starling Restaurant (150 seats capacity ) and Rain Forest Café ( 30 seats capacity )

    First aid facilities are available at the Park. In case of emergency ask the Management on duty or any member of our staff

    – Gifts & Souvenirs

    Unique bird themed merchandise is available from the park gift shop adjacent to the main restaurant. Alternatively, local artisans display hand painted crafts in traditional pavilions strategically located around the park

    – Disable Person

    Disability access to the park has been designed with barrier-free pathways for convenient wheelchair and baby-stroller access. However, there are staff on hand if assistance is required.

What Can You See
Join us for an adventure that has no boundaries as we take you on a journey across the Indonesian archipelago, Latin America and South Africa. The park is divided into regions that recreate the natural habitats of our birds, complete with indigenous plant life and traditional artifacts for authenticity.

  • Birds of Bali
    Experience the original jungle birds of Bali & encounter the world’s rarest bird, The Bali Starling. Bali Starling ( Leucopsar rothschildi ). Bali’s highly endangered National Bird is now regularly bred within the Park as part of conservation program.
  • East Indonesia
    Travel to Far East Indonesia, home to an amazing array of birds as well as the extraordinary Komodo dragon, a giant carnivores lizard which is a direct descendant of the dinosaur & rarely seen in captivity. Komodo Dragon, largest and most imposing of the world’s 3700 lizard species, the komodo dragons grow to about three meters in length. Found only on the small Indonesian island of Komodo kined and pander between Sumbawa and Flores. Their natural prey comprise birds and their egg, small deer and wild pigs. This powerful creatures provide a dramatic glimpse of what life must have been like millions of years ago during two age of dinosaurs.
  • Birds of Papua 
    Discover the most comprehensive collection of exotic Papuan birds in the largest aviary in Bali. The large flightless Cassowary (Casuarius unappendiculatus), is confined to the dense lowland forests of New Guinea and Northern Queensland where it feeds on insects, fruits, seeds and tubers.
  • Birds of Borneo
    Witness birds of Borneo in mixed species aviaries. Indonesia is home to a great variety of Hornbills and almost every species are represented at the Bali Bird Park. The Bali Bird Park is successfully breeding several species, many of which are rare or seldom seen in the wild.
  • Birds of Sumatra 
    Visit the deep jungle of Sumatra for rare & strange endemic birds. The Bubo sumatranus is one of the world’s most successful hunters.
  • Birds of Java
    See the fantastic Jawa Hawk and Serpent Eagles and listen to the sweet sounds of Java’s song birds echoing through the foliage. Green Peafowl ( Pavo Muticus ) although the green peafowl was once a familiar sight in open woodland, pastures and plantations, hunting have severely reduced the population leaving the remainder only in mountainous regions, here they roam forest edges and savanna woodland by day, roosting in bare trees at night. During the breeding season their mewing and loud pairing calls are very obvious and the male’s beautiful display with tail feathers fanned out is unmistakable.
  • Birds of Paradise
    See our stunning collection of Birds of Paradise. The Bali Bird Park collection of Birds of Paradise is one of the best collections of these magnificent birds to be seen outside of the mountains of Papua New Guinea. Normally secretive and allusive, the Bali Bird Park has six species which live in special facilities designed to breed these rare and exotic birds.
  • Birds of South America
    Venture to other tropical continents to view an array of South American exotics such as the Scarlet Macaw and toucan. The Bali Bird Park has nine species of these bright colored South American parrots. The magnificent Hyacinth Macaw is the largest parrot in the world.
  • Birds of South Africa
    Witness the Congo Grey Parrot and other birds of the African Savannah. One of the oldest living birds, fossil records show Flamingoes have existed on earth for 30-50 Million.The African Grey Parrots is a very familiar parrot originating from equatorial Africa. Widely kept as a family pet, it is valued for its ability to mimic the human voice.

What Can You Do
Stroll within the boundaries of our giant walk-through aviaries that replicate the natural eco-systems of the Bali Jungle and Papuan Rainforest. Pathways and bridges are carved through the dense foliage where only filtered sunlight manages to penetrate the canopy of greenery overhead.

Several vantage points have been strategically positioned to catch glimpses of free flying birds as they follow their survival instincts of foraging for food, nesting and mating.

These protected enclosures safeguard rare species from outside predators, whilst still exposing them to the various aspects of living in the wild.

    Actively participate in our feeding times that are scheduled throughout the duration of the day. Join our Bird Keepers recreate our bird’s natural feeding environment-Greater Birds of Paradise feed around you & amazing flycatchers perform Ariel acrobatics whilst you feed them.
  • Free Flight Bird Show
    Marvel at our free flight show featuring majestic Eagles, Owls, Macaws and other birds as they soar through the sky. This is an amazing opportunity to see the flying capabilities of so many different birds in one environment.
  • Guyu Guyu Corner
    Wander at leisure through Guyu-Guyu Corner for a fun hands on experience of communing with our collection of exotic birds at close range. Fantastic Parrots and Cockatoos-Hornbills and songbirds will perch comfortably on your shoulders and outstretched arms for unique experience and great photo opportunities.
  • Meet The Bird Star
    Encounter the true stars of the park-they are our cheeky entertainers who adore the limelight and appreciate a friendly pat and sometimes a chat. A number of our bird stars have been hand reared in captivity enabling them to be completely at ease with human contact.
  • Bird Nursery
    The bird nursery and observation station is designed for visitor to view the growth progress of newly …. birds. Observe Bali Bird Park’s intensive capture breading program that is dedicated to the conservation of late and endangered species.

    The Park provides an unrivalled opportunity for children to learn about their wildlife heritage. For this reason the Park welcomes school parties, and can provide special guiding services or work sheet for them. The Park also sponsors special events designed to increase the awareness of both children and adults of the threats facing wildlife in the modern world. Children painting competitions and similar activities are arranged periodically.

    In traditional pavilions scattered throughout the park local Balinese artisans create and display pieces of handicraft that depict bird themes as token mementos. Alternatively, browse through our Jalak Bali retail outlet of exclusive giftware, original painting and souvenir merchandise for unique pieces that are exclusive to the park.

Bali Bird Park plays a key role in protecting and conserving Indonesia’s endangered wildlife. The Park have successfully bred many species, including the rare Pesquet’s Parrot and numerous Bali Starlings. We accommodate more than 40 species of protected Indonesian birds in the park, a growing number of which are now breeding successfully under the care of our staff.

The staff are proud of their new additions some of which can be seen in their incubators through the observation windows of the laboratory & nursery building.

  • Veterinary Care
    To keep the Park’s collection of more than 1000 birds healthy and in top condition requires constant care and attention. A staff of over 20 keepers maintains the aviaries or look after the husbandry of our birds.The Birds in the Park generally enjoy excellent health but like people they occasionally fall ill. For this reason a full time veterinarian monitors the bird’s health and provides treatment when they fall ill or get injured. The veterinary facility is the best and most well equipped in Indonesia.
  • Park and Environment
    Visitors to the Park cannot fail to notice the beauty and abundant variety of trees, shrubs and flowering plants, but they should also keep an eye open fort he natural wildlife that lives here. Uninvited but no less welcome, guests include gaudy butterflies that move through the Park, feeding at blossoms, and dragonflies seeking small incest on which to prey. Yellow-flanked skins sun themselves inconspicuously on lawn and paths, while geckos call from thatched roofs.
  • Biosecurity System
    Careful preventive action has been set up for the bird collection, all staff members and visitors to the park. Since we opened in 1995 the Bali Bird Park has remained safe for all visitors. We are very proud to say that none of our birds have ever been infected by any bird virus. Poor conditions cause virus infections. For this reason, the Bali Bird Park ensures all of its collection and in clean habitats. Footbath containing disinfectant are situated at every entrance/access to the park.A complete ban on the acquisition of any animals from commercial farm & bird market, and thorough assessment is carried out & quarantine for any new specimen. Regular treatment of our collection, giving daily vitamins and minerals. Disinfectant sprayer for park aviaries weekly, and sprayer for guests and staff upon arrival and departure from the park. Blood inspection by official authorized personnel from Departement of Health every month.

Bali Bird Park & Ubud Tour
Tour with Lunch, start at 9:00 (approximately 7 hrs)

This excursion takes you to the village of Ubud, an area that is rich with art, culture and tradition and give you a chance to explore Bali completely in short time. First we stop at the stone carving village of Batubulan to see the Barong Dance performed on the open stage. This dance symbolically represents the universal conflict of good against evil through costumed characters. Next we visit Bali Bird Park, heaven on earth where 1000 birds, 250 species live in their natural habitat make your imagination fly in one great experience, then drive to Ubud for Your lunch time, the cozy place where the visitors will be pampered by the most scenic terrace rice field views and the unspoiled greeneries. In Ubud you will have the opportunity to explore the gallery lined streets as well as the traditional marketplace where different kinds of handicrafts are sold.

We then detour to the village of Mas, home to a clan of woodcarvers who spend their days producing art products for export and sacred objects of religious significance. The next stop is Celuk, a village where silver and goldsmiths produce delicate jewelery and other ornate pieces using traditional tools.

Bali Bird Park & Tanah Lot Sunset Tours
Tour with Dinner, start at 13:00 (approximately 7 hours)

This afternoon tour will lead you to a real journey back to nature experience, passing by Tohpati and Batubulan which is famous for center of Batik and stone carving, one you can find the villager at work a long the road carving the stone for house, hotel, temple decoration even more for art stuffs. Then we will enter a fascinating world of exotic sights and sounds… Bali’s stunning Bird Park. A cast of hundreds of the world’s rarest and most beautiful birds greet you as you stroll through tropical gardens; highly endangered endemic Bali Starlings, South American Macaws and Australian Cockatoos in their kaleidoscopic plumage, stately African Crowned Cranes and Tanzanian Flamingos milling serenely by the waters edge and Pelicans floating quietly in shimmering lotus ponds, are just some of the marvelous sights.

After enjoying and interacting with thousands of birds that live in their natural habitat, the next stop is “Tanah Lot” perched on the rock withstanding the pounding waves the Indian Ocean , a few lonely Hindu shrines commemorate the arrival of Hinduism in Bali. The scene is particularly spectacular at sunset, when the image of the temple is silhouetted by the fading rays of daylight as you partake in dinner.
